Liturgical Ministries


  • Lectors

    Dennis Helgeson

    Lectors proclaim the Word of God within liturgical celebrations including Mass, funerals and weddings. Being comfortable speaking in front of large gatherings and an ability to project the voice are essential. Must be a Roman Catholic in good standing. Lectors attend training and then serve according to the schedule at their particular Mass times and on Holy Days of obligation as needed. 

  • Vocations

    This ministry schedules individuals and families to receive the chalice during Mass, and pray for vocations for the week. The chalice is returned and given to a different individual or family at the next Mass.

  • Greeters

    Greeters welcome parishioners and visitors as they arrive for Mass as well as provide information on the Parish. All ages are welcome to join this ministry. 

  • Adoration

    Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. First Friday of every month after 8:00am Mass. 

  • Ushers

    Ushers foster a spirit of stewardship and hospitality by ensuring all visitors and parishioners feel part of the St. Thomas the Apostle Faith community. 

  • Baptismal Preparation

    The Sacrament of Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the spirit and the door that gives access to the other sacraments. The Baptism Preparation Team helps parents and Godparents prepare their child to receive this holy sacrament. Through God's grace, this team helps class participants deepen their understanding and commitment to not only be the first teachers of their children, but the best teachers of their children in the ways of our faith. 

  • Rosary Guild

    Members meet 7:00pm on Tuesdays in the chapel to pray and spread devotion to the rosary through the Immaculate Heart of Mary for both our church community as well as missions throughout the world. Guild members lead the Rosary ahead of all weekend Masses.

  • Liturgical Environment

    Responsible for the environment of the various worship spaces of St. Thomas the Apostle, this team provides appropriate enhancement of our liturgical seasons by color, flowers and other appropriate decorations. 

  • Sacristan

    The sacristan prepares the physical objects needed for the celebration of the sacred mysteries. A detailed ministry, this ministry is necessary for the smooth flow of the liturgical celebration.

  • Extraordinary Ministers

    This ministry assists the priests and/or deacon in the distribution of the Body and Precious Blood of Christ to the congregation. This ministry is open to confirmed Roman Catholics in good standing. After training, EM's serve at their preferred Mass times and Holy Day needs.

  • Bereavement/Funeral

    The ministry of Bereavement assists and supports the family that has lost a loved one by helping the family plan the funeral liturgy, participating in the wake/rosary, providing multiple grief resources and offering support.
